Fairbanks Specialties
Designed for extreme interior cold.
Fairbanks is the gateway to the Arctic Circle and the best place in North America to view the Aurora. However, interior winter temperatures regularly fall below -20°F and sometimes below -40°F. Normal ski gear is not sufficient.
Aurora viewing packages
Includes extreme-cold down parkas, heavy bibs, and boots rated down to -40°F. Essential for standing outside for hours waiting for the lights.
One-Way Rentals
Rent in Anchorage, drive up the Parks Highway to Denali, and drop off in Fairbanks (or vice versa). Ideal for road trippers.
Hotel & Depot Delivery
We deliver and retrieve gear directly from Fairbanks hotels (Pike's Waterfront Lodge, Springhill Suites, etc.) and the Alaska Railroad depot.
Polar Expedition Gear
Wiggy's extreme down parkas and heavy sub-zero sleeping bags for winter camping, scientific research, and film productions.
Interior winter events
Iditarod, Fur Rondy & Yukon Quest
If you are visiting for the Iditarod sled dog race, Fairbanks winter festivals, or the Yukon Quest, winter gear sells out months in advance. We highly recommend booking at least 4–8 weeks before your travel dates.
Read Packing GuidePolar wind chill warning
Interior windchills can reach -80°F. Exposition crews, Aurora tours, and dog sled passengers require heavy wind-resistant layers, insulated bibs, face balaclavas, and Baffin pac boots to avoid frostbite. We customize every fitting to your sizing profile.
